We welcome and appreciate any interest in volunteering with the Chicago Freedom School. We are excited to work with a growing constituency concerned about the activism of youth in the Chicago community.
Please note, we are especially in need of people who are willing to take up behind the scenes work. CFS volunteers only have the opportunity to work with youth on a limited basis. Volunteer positions may include:
Librarian: oversees the lending library system; researches new materials & curricula for wish list; promotes library holdings via promotional materials in the space and on the web.
Graphic Design and IT: production of promotional materials for events, website, newsletter, and Facebook.
Administrative Assistance: assist in donor database maintenance; generate monthly membership renewals & reminders; process administrative and space use requests.
Special Event Coordination: assist staff in planning and implementing public programming; solicit in-kind donations for special events; promote special events.
We ask that volunteers attend a volunteer orientation prior to beginning work. Volunteers must make a minimum six-month commitment to work with CFS: either January to May or June to December.

CFS frequently hosts students who need to complete an internship for course credit. We seek individuals with a high level of commitment to young people and youth-led social change. We require a minimum commitment of 6 hours/week for one semester.
Please provide a cover letter explaining your interest in one of the specific internships listed below and your availability, your resume, two references, and any relevant paperwork from your home institution pertaining to your internship (if applicable) by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
