I can’t believe I am a part of the staff of the Chicago Freedom School.

After over 10 years working as a community organizer and youth worker, I’ve come to love the community education side of the work most, and specifically facilitating popular education workshops. The dynamics of taking education out of oppressive institutions and into the hands of everyday people to support their fight for liberation is an important aspect of social justice work.  One of CFS's many strengths is its determination to support youth to use history and popular education as tools for movement building.

Prior to joining the staff here at CFS last month,  I facilitated workshops for the Freedom Fellowship and the Rev Up Training.  I would always walk away from my CFS experiences inspired by the stories I heard from  the amazing youth organizations from across the city.  CFS was a place where I could connect with other youth workers and be challenged to grow. Now, as member of the staff I look forward to building upon and expanding this great work.

I'll be facilitating an Understanding Adultism and Creating Partnerships with Youth  workshop on May 11th.  Reserve your space now!
